Butler (Shanghai) Inc. recently replaced the previously installed Lite Panels on its’ original MR-24® roof system. The original MR-24® roof has performed well for the last 20 years, and it continues to be watertight. The existing Lite Panels at its manufacturing plant were replaced with the SunLite Strip™ Daylighting System. The 359 units were installed on the existing roof

The SunLite Strip™ Daylighting System used in this replacement is an innovative technology product offered by Butler®. It adds natural daylight, occupant comfort and energy-savingstoany Butler® building system featuring the MR-24® roof system for new or retrofit applications. The dome design creates diffused lighting throughout the day without hotspots, reducing electric lighting costs by up to 70% when combined with lighting controls.
l Outer lens: a highly impact resistant and high transparency material is adopted with an arched diamond lens surface able to meet various specific performance requirements.
Ø The lens is composed of polycarbonate and an outer UV cap prism lens, and the light transmittance drop is guaranteed not to exceed 3% in 10 years.
Ø The lens has a smooth surface with a self-cleaning function, ensuring that no dust will accumulate after long-term use and the daylighting effect will not be diminished.
Ø The lens has passed the assessment of the hurricane resistance test in high velocity hurricane zones (HVHZ) in compliance with the requirements of the Florida Building Code.
l The SunLite Strip™ Daylighting System has obtained FM wind resistance certification and HVHZ hurricane resistance certification. It also passed the hail resistance test.
l Drop test: the SunLite Strip™ Daylighting System has passed the test of dropping 200 pounds (91kg) of weight from a height of 1.52m onto the center of the lighting window. The lighting window was neither overturned nor damaged. It has also passed the North American Fenestration Standard for Windows and Doors (NAFS) authentication.
l Every arched SunLite Strip™ Daylighting System has an independent roof opening which can be installed with Butler MR-24® standing-seam metal roof.

The BlueScope Xi’an plant, which was completed in 2013 and awarded LEED Platinum, also utilizes the SunLite Strip™ Daylighting System. This not only saves on energy consumption, but also improves the comfort level of the working environment for employees.
