Our Bond is the expression of the values of BlueScope, and the way the Company and its employees should conduct our business. It also forms the basis of BlueScope's policies, standards and guidelines.
Our detailed business policies and guidelines apply to all employees. The values of Our Bond and the principles of conduct expressed below, apply to non-executive directors as well as employees. Commitment to the values of Our Bond must be demonstrated by the leaders of the Company.
Our customers are our partners
When representing BlueScope, we will:
deal with others fairly and honestly;
act with integrity in our business dealings,avoiding improper practices;
not be influenced by considerations which are irrelevant to BlueScope's business;
act in a manner that ensures BlueScope has areputation for proper conduct and being true toits word;
and do not give or accept gifts or other benefits that could influence the way we, or our customers,suppliers, or regulators do business.
Our shareholders are our foundation
In managing BlueScope shareholders' funds, we will:
communicate to shareholders and the market in a full, timely and frank manner;
be accountable for our actions to BlueScope shareholders;
manage BlueScope's funds and resources appropriately and not provide unreasonable benefits for ourselves or others;
only use BlueScope's property for the purpose of the business; and
not seek to obtain an advantage for ourselves or others from BlueScope's confidential information.
Our people are our strength
For BlueScope employees and contractors, we will:
maintain a safe work environment;
contribute to the effectiveness of the team;
treat all employees and candidates for employment fairly and on merit;
encourage each employee to develop and achieve their potential;
and take responsibility for the matters which we control.
Our communities are our home
In operating within communities, we will:
respect the laws and customs of the communities in which we operate;
conduct ourselves in a way that respects both the letter and purpose of the laws under which we operate;
where possible, strive to adopt the highest standard of conduct that applies in any of the communities in which we work;
commit to use resources efficiently, prevent pollution and reduce the environmental impact of our operations and products;
and be accessible and responsive to the needs of local stakeholders.
